
Ennely Medina, Editor-in-Chief
Ennely is a third-year J.D. candidate from Carol Stream, IL. She is an active member of First Class and La Alianza. Her passions include legal advocacy, public international law, and human rights. She has a B.A. in Political Science from Northwestern University, where she focused her honors research on the detention of immigrant children, and she previously served as a Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Law Fellow in 2020. She spent her 1L summer and 2L summer as a Summer Associate for the global law firm, White & Case LLP. Her hobbies include singing with mariachi and choirs, as well as painting.

Lorea Mendiguren, Editor-in-Chief
Lorea is a third-year J.D. student at HLS and an incoming LLM candidate at the University of Cambridge. She is from Bilbao, Spain and San Diego, CA. At the University of Southern California, she studied English literature, history, and psychology. Lorea is interested in global regulatory law, dispute resolution, and civil rights. In addition to HILJ, Lorea is also part of La Alianza and the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program. In her spare time, she enjoys music, yoga, news podcasts, jigsaw puzzles, pub trivia, and trying new teas.

Jackson P. Neagli, Editor-in-Chief/Managing Editor
Jackson is a third-year J.D. student from Houston, Texas. He holds an LL.M in International Law from the University of Edinburgh, an M.A. in Chinese Studies from SOAS London, and a B.A. in Asian Studies from Rice University. Before law school, he spent two years in the UK completing a Marshall Scholarship. He spent his summers at the Securities and Exchange Commission and Covington & Burling.

Juliette Brezin, Managing Editor
Juliette is a third-year JD student from Paris, France. She graduated from Sciences Po Paris with a Master of Public Affairs, and from Sorbonne University with a degree in Literature. At HLS, Juliette is a Cravath fellow, researching the evolution of women’s land rights in post-genocide Rwanda, and is also part of the Cyberlaw Clinic. She spent her 1L and 2L summers at Latham & Watkins. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, hiking, exercising, and baking.

Jonathan Lu is a third-year J.D. student.

Lawrence Gu, Executive Editor (Print)
Lawrence is a third-year J.D. student from Chengdu, China. He received a BA in History from Harvard College. At HLS, Lawrence is also involved in the China Law Association and the Asia Law Society. He spent his last summer at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Lawrence is particularly interested in international legal issues involving East Asia and speaks Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Jack Leahey, Executive Editor (Print)
Jack is a third-year J.D. student from Dunwoody, Georgia. He graduated from Princeton University, where he earned an A.B. in Politics and a Certificate in Russian Language and Culture. Between college and law school, he worked first as a Research Associate at Georgia Tech, where his focus included EU data protection law and cross-border data requests, and then as a Project Assistant with King & Spalding’s Special Matters & Government Investigations practice. He has spent his law school summers at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Haven and with King & Spalding in New York. In his final year of law school, he is looking forward to working on HILJ Vol. 64 and participating in the Federal Courts Clinic.

Yusuke Tsuzuki, Executive Editor (Print)
Yusuke is a second-year J.D. student from Kobe, Japan. At HLS, he is also a board member of the Harvard Space Law Society and a research assistant for Harvard Law Empirical Services. During his 1L summer, he worked at Hogan Lovells. Yusuke received a bachelors degree in Economics from Princeton University and a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University. He has also published an article analyzing the economic effects of European residence-by-investment (“golden visa”) programs. Yusuke loves singing in choirs and practicing karate, but the pandemic has introduced him to the hobby of watching virtual tours on YouTube and pretending to have travelled the world.

Lisa is a third-year J.D. student from Michigan. She received her M.A. Hons. in Economics from the University of Edinburgh. Before law school, Lisa worked as a data scientist and consultant for two years at a boutique firm in London. At HLS, she has been involved in the International Human Rights Clinic, the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and research assistant work with various professors. She spent her 1L summer at the International Legal Foundation and 2L summer at Sullivan & Cromwell in NYC.

Scarlett Aylsworth, Executive Editor (Online)
Scarlett is a second-year J.D. student from New York, New York, and Malibu, California. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in International Studies and sub-concentration in International Security, Norms, and Cooperation. With interests in public international law, international development, and international arbitration, she has spent her previous summers at P.R.I.M.E. Finance in The Hague, Netherlands and the Social Change Initiative in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Outside of law school, Scarlett enjoys Pilates, mindfulness, off-road jeeping, and reading novels.

Lloyd is a second-year J.D. student from Vancouver, Canada. He earned a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University in 2019, and a GPLLM in Canadian Common Law from the University of Toronto in 2021. Before HLS, Lloyd spent summers in Brussels and Cote d’Ivoire researching international trade and development issues and published on post-conflict recovery in Iraq. Lloyd spent his 1L summer at Accountability Counsel, a nonprofit advocating for communities harmed by international development projects.

Josh Metzger, Executive Editor (Online)
Josh is a second-year J.D. student from New Jersey. He studied International Politics and Chinese at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, focusing on institutional development. During his 1L summer, he interned at the United Nations International Law Commission in Geneva, and he also advised the Republic of Palau about sea-level rise and its civilian protection responsibilities. He has worked at UNCITRAL’s Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific, DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, and the Woodrow Wilson Center. On campus, he is part of Harvard Immigration Project, the Law and International Development Society, and the Jewish Law Students Association. Outside of law school, he enjoys tennis, pottery, and following the NBA.

Maddie Zabriskie, Executive Editor (Online)
Maddie is a third-year J.D. student from Houston, Texas. She graduated from Harvard University, where she earned an A.B. in Government, a secondary in psychology, and a citation in French. Between college and law school, Maddie worked for the federal government. She has spent time working in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston and spent two summers with Vinson & Elkins. Outside of law school, she enjoys playing tennis, baking, and reading spy novels.

Samantha Mazzarelli, Features Editor
Sam is a third-year J.D. student from New Jersey. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Villanova University in 2018. Before coming to Harvard, she worked as a litigation paralegal at a large firm in New York City, where she oversaw work on a merger-gone-wrong litigation from discovery through pre-trial motions. During her 1L summer, she interned in the National Security Unit of the U.S. Attorneys’ Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Jason Jia-Xi Wu, Submissions Chair
Jason is a third-year J.D. student from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. He obtained a master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in History from University of California San Diego. At HLS, Jason is also involved with the Harvard Asia Law Society and the Harvard Business Law Review. Jason has spent his past summers at New Markets Lab, a DC-based non-profit dedicated to promoting sustainable development through international trade law and policy, and Milbank LLP’s New York office. In his leisure time, Jason enjoys practicing calligraphy, photography, and playing video games.

Anderson J. Dirocie De Leon, Symposium Chair
Anderson is an LL.M. student at HLS from the Dominican Republic. He holds an LL.M in Advanced Studies in Public International Law from Leiden University in The Netherlands (2018) and an LL.B. from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic (2017). Before HLS, he worked for several international courts and bodies including the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the Inter-American Court on Human Rights, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, and the International Criminal Court. Similarly, he worked as Legal Researcher for Columbia University’s Global Freedom of Expression and served as Assistant Secretary to the President of the Dominican Superior Electoral Court. In 2016, he became the first Latin-American and Caribbean person to be elected as student president of the International Law Student Association (ILSA). He served as Secretary General of the Latin-American Council for International and Comparative Law Scholars, chapter Dominican Republic.

Hacer Berra Akcan, Communications Chair
Berra is a Turkish-American 2L interested in international and comparative law. She graduated from Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris in 2021, majoring in classics and political science. She worked at White & Case as a Diversity Fellow for her 1L summer, and will be returning to the firm next summer.

Eric Belgorodski, LLM Liaison
Eric is an LL.M. Student from Germany. He studied law with a focus on international and European law as well as Intercultural Communication in Munich. During and after his studies, he worked at Freshfields, a German firm specializing in extradition law, for the lecturer of Public International Law and at Seven Summits Arbitration. He was a member of the Refugee Law Clinic Munich and the Jessup Team. In his free time, Eric likes to play guitar, cook and play tennis.

Shashank Vura, Social Chair
Shashank is a 2L from Sugar Land, Texas and Hyderabad, India. He graduated from Cornell University in 2019 with a B.A. in history and government, spending his junior year at the University of Oxford. During his undergraduate years, he interned for FairVote and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth. Shashank is passionate about international biodiversity conservation and wildlife law. Before law school, he worked in external relations at the Rainforest Alliance and intergovernmental/interagency affairs at the United Nations Environment Programme. He then served as an associate at Elephants in Japan. At HLS, Shashank serves on the board of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and the Animal Law Society. He is also a research assistant for Professor Kristen Stilt. Last summer, he worked in the policy and legal teams at the International Fund for Animal Welfare, focusing on global treaty implementation and initiatives to curtail the trafficking of endangered species.

Soraia Esteves, External Chair
Soraia is a rising 2L, first-generation student. Soraia attended Pepperdine University, where she studied International Studies (with a focus in Political Science) and Spanish. Soraia also studied conflict management and dispute resolution at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. At HLS, Soraia serves as a Selections Editor on the Harvard Journal of Law & Gender, as Student Government’s Director of Student Organization, and on the board of La Alianza. She is spending her 1L summer at White & Case in New York.

Aarushi Nargas, External Chair
Aarushi Nargas is an LL.M student at Harvard Law School. She obtained her first law degree from India, during which she participated in the Philip C Jessup Moot Court Competition and the International Criminal Court Moot. After graduation, she interned at the judicial chambers of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague, which was supported by a financial award from the prestigious Sir Richard May Trust Fund. Subsequently, she clerked with Justice DY Chandrachud at the Supreme Court of India for two years. Her interests lie in the areas of public international law, international arbitration and international criminal law. At Harvard, Aarushi is on the board of the Harvard International Law Journal, Harvard International Arbitration Law Students Association and a student attorney with HLS Advocates for Human Rights, where she is researching on the crimes committed in the recent Russia-Ukraine conflict. She is also a research assistant with the Program on International Law and Armed Conflict.

Tram Tran, Finance Chair
Tram is a third-year J.D. student from San Jose, CA. She graduated with honors from UCLA and received a B.A. in Business Economics with Minor in Accounting. At HLS, she is actively involved in the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA), Harvard Law School Negotiators (HLSN), the Women’s Law Association (WLA), and Harvard Business Law Review (HBLR). She was an Extern to the Honorable F. Dennis Saylor IV, Chief Judge and volunteered at the California Attorney General’s Office for the Appeals, Writs, and Trial Section of the Criminal Division.
