LIDS Coffee with Global Fund for Women’s Sakena Yacoobi, founder and executive director of the Afghan Institute for Learning. Fellow board member Marissa Wesely will moderate. Sakena is the founder and executive director of the Afghan Institute for Learning, and a truly remarkable activist and leader, who has focused on education and health care – with a particular focus on women – in Afghanistan for over 25 years. LIDS will be hosting a casual conversation with Sakena, from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, February 19 in WCC 3016. If you are free, it should be very interesting, as Sakena has a fascinating personal story in her efforts to build AIL, and also provides an interesting perspective on women’s rights – and the situation more generally – in Afghanistan today.
