The Republic of Rwanda has made an application to the ICJ regarding arrest warrants issued for three Rwandan officials by French authorities and the French request to the UN Secretary-General that Rwandan President Paul Kagame stand trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Rwanda argues that sovereign and diplomatic immunity forbid the issuance of the warrants and claims that France is interfering with its right to state sovereignty.
