The Japanese government has donated $247 million to ASEAN to support youth exchange programs in east Asia in addition to various projects related to the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership. The donation was made pursuant to an agreement signed by Japan and ASEAN during the January summit in Cebu.

In other ASEAN news, the trade bloc signed a Cooperation Agreement with the International Labour Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland, in late March. The agreement provides for the sharing of research and information on issues such as health and safety, employment and trade, social security, and labor migration.
